FAQs

How does Shotput work?

Enter a username and hit the return key. From there, generate your secret email address and then copy it to your clipboard to paste it in a new email. When you write to this secret email address, using only the subject line, you can publish notes, links or images to your public blog. You can use any email service to do this. You can find your blog at https://shotput.ai/blog/your-username.

Why use only the email subject line?

Constraints breed meaning and depth. The subject line can't be formatted, has a character limit, and works the same on all email services. Most email services limit subject lines to 988 characters, including spaces.

How do I post images or links?

To post an image, type or paste the image URL in the subject line. The image will be embedded in your blog post. A link must contain http:// or https:// to be recognized. Non image links will be posted as links.

How do I edit or delete a post?

You can't. Once the email is sent, it's published. This is a feature, not a bug.

What if I write text in the email body, have attachments, or leave the subject line empty?

None of this will be published.

Can I share my secret email address?

Yes, if you want to journal together. Your blog, your rules.

What if I lost my secret email?

If you've already sent posts, you should find it in the sent emails folder.
